In line with the Action Plan for World Heritage in the Africa Region and in honor of the 50th anniversary of the World Heritage Convention in November 2022, UNESCO Regional Office for Eastern Africa will support East African participation in the anniversary celebrations and will also offer financial and technical support towards four East African sites on the List of World Heritage in Danger as well as to World Heritage sites impacted by the crisis in northern Ethiopia. The Regional Office will support nominations, updating of tentative lists and improvement of management and conservation of World Heritage sites in Eastern Africa as well as the development of sustainable tourism through extra budgetary support.
