Le Gabon vise à maintenir son statut actuel, où ses forêts absorbent plus de carbone que la nation n'en émet, au-delà de 2050. Pour y parvenir, les citoyens gabonais devront soutenir les politiques gouvernementales de conservation des forêts et d'atténuation du changement climatique à long terme. Ce programme, défini dans le CAFI 3 du Gabon, est conçu pour permettre aux populations urbaines d'accéder à des jardins forestiers et à des parcs urbains, en mettant l'accent sur l'éducation en matière de forêt, de biodiversité et du climat.
