The project combines local knowledge with the most accurate data and scientific expertise, mutualizing forces and ideas to develop stronger policies to face ecological restoration challenges as climate change, mass tourism and biodiversity loss.

One of the functions of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves is information and experience exchange. The Earth Network, thanks to UNESCO and Italy, is upgrading this function to a new level.

The Earth Network's goal is to consolidate the knowledge-base on ecosystem management, restoration and resilience in UNESCO-designated sites (or sites that have applied for designation) and share solutions that can be implemented everywhere.

Following the conclusion of the first field work missions of the Network in Saint Kitts and Nevis and Bulgaria, more countries will receive experts’ visits in the coming months.

This project can be a very important model on how to land global agreements at the local level.
