INTENSIVE COURSE IN GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION 13-18 November 2023

Are you ready to make a positive difference in our interconnected world? At a time when challenges such as human rights violations, inequality and poverty continue to undermine peace and sustainability, it's vital that we equip ourselves with the tools to create meaningful change.
The Italian Higher Education for Africa (IHEA) Foundation is launching the 1st Intensive Course “Global Citizenship Education” in collaboration with the UNESCO Regional Office of the Maghreb (Tunis Antenna), the UNESCO Chair on Global Citizenship Education in Higher Education (University of Bologna, Italy), the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in Tunisia, IHEC Cartage and the UNESCO Chair for Prospective, Anticipation and Strategic Decision.
INTENSIVE COURSE IN GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION

Date and location
The Intensive Course, scheduled to take place from November 13th to 18th at IHEC Carthage, Tunisia, will encompass 6 hours per day. 

Topics and didactic approach
The Course provides participants with an opportunity to learn about, and discuss: Introduction to Global Citizenship Education, Economic and Social Inequalities, Environmental Sustainability and Climate Change, Migration and Cultural Diversity, Human Rights, Governance, Life Skills.
Theoretical content will be addressed with participatory and active methodologies to foster exchange between international students and lecturers with different disciplinary and geographical backgrounds. 
The didactic approach will also be experiential, with field visits to local NGOs that focus on Global Citizenship Education”. Finally, students will be asked to work in groups on fieldwork.

Cost
Participation is free of charge. Selected students will be provided with accommodation and meals during the Course in Tunisia.

Who can apply? 
This call is open to Master's M2 students, recent master’s graduates, doctoral candidates, and young PhD holders in any subject area interested in Global Citizenship, Sustainability and Human Rights from Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania, Algeria and Italy.
A good knowledge of written and spoken English is required.

How to submit your application?
Fill the online form available here by October 31st, 2023. You will be asked to upload a one-page brief CV, accompanied by a letter describing your current area of studies, research or professional activity, and your motivation in participating in the Intensive Course (max 2 pages).

Selection criteria
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of their qualifications, their letter of motivation, and the representativeness of the geographical areas.
With regard to Italian students, priority will be given to students enrolled at IHEA partner universities (Padua, Rome 'La Sapienza', Bologna, Politecnico of Milan, Naples 'Federico II', Florence). 
Candidates with the same score will be ranked according to the date of their application submission.
