Many countries are advocating for new gender-responsive STEM education and market responsive curriculum to accelerate Africa's aspiration for socio-economic transformation by 2024. Mobilising science as key driver for sustainable development in Africa is crucial to attaining this aspiration. UNESCO regional office for southern Africa will strengthen STEM education in SADC through innovative capacity building initiatives with a special attention to gender.
