According to the Education for All Global Monitoring Report 2011, the number of illiterates in Egypt reached 17.8 million (34% of the total population), of which two thirds are women and girls. Literacy rates among males aged 15+ reached 75%, while that of females in the same age bracket is only 58%. Therefore, the project will target marginalized women and girls and seek to eradicate their illiteracy, aiming to reach out to the most vulnerable female groups and remote geographical locations.
