The project will support the implementation of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (the Ocean Decade) which commenced implementation on 1 January 2021. The Ocean Decade is a UN-led global initiative that aims to convene diverse actors around the work to generate critical ocean science for sustainable development solutions. Structured around ten Ocean Decade Challenges it addresses issues ranging from marine pollution, ecosystem management, and climate change to ocean observations, ocean data management and capacity development.
