The exhibition presents the initiatives undertaken in the framework of the Vanishing Treasures project, which is tackling the climate and biodiversity crises by focusing on three iconic and endangered species in different mountain regions: the snow leopard in Central Asia (Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan), the Royal Bengal tiger in Bhutan, and the mountain gorilla in the Virungas (Rwandaand Uganda).

In seeking to conserve these iconic species, the project also works to conserve the wider mountain habitats and landscapes and to strengthen the resilience of the human communities living there. Within each region, the Vanishing Treasures project works hand in hand with local communities and regional and national authorities, including the managers of protected areas.

Members of this multi-country project will be available to share more details from 3 to 5 pm. The project is implemented by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Great Apes Survival Partnership (GRASP), and funded by the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

This exhibition is organized in parallel with the 3rd meeting of the GRASP Council and the Fourth Meeting of the Parties to the Agreement on the Conservation of Gorillas and their Habitats.
