This side event is co-organized by the Permanent Mission to Norway to the United Nations, Canadian Commission for UNESCO and UNESCO, and takes place on the occasion of the Twenty-Third Session of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues from 15-26 April 2024.

What barriers do speakers of Indigenous Peoples' languages face in digital domains? How do we overcome these barriers? Join us in understanding the dependencies shaping the survival of Indigenous languages, and how to build a foundation to bridge the digital divide and establish favorable conditions for digital empowerment. The side event also aims to shed light on the role of youth in enhancing the functional usage of Indigenous languages, especially in the digital sphere.
