Ecological Characteristics
Main ecosystems: the reserve is a mosaic of 7 types of plain vegetation: plateaux, hills, grassland and shrubland savannahs, woodland savannahs, open forests, gallery forests, swampy grasslands.The Badiar Biosphere Reserve is characterized by a certain species of herbaceous vegetation with a grassy formation and a continuous upper herbaceous stratum, with an average size of 2m. It is based on Andropogon sp; Penisetum sp, Mitraguina, Borasus aethiopum, Pilostigma thoningui. The fauna is rich and varied represented by the following species: Cephalophus maxiwelli; Cephalophus rufilatus, Cephalophus tragelaphus, Pantera leo, Canis aureus, Cercopithecus patas, Cercopithecus diana.
Socio-Economics Characteristics
The population makes a living mostly out of agriculture, hunting, fishing and livestock raising. Despite poor infrastructure, tourism has also increased in the past few years.
