Beatrice Avalos (Chile) is a professor of education, one of the founders of the Interdisciplinary Education Research Programme (PIIE). Coming from an extensive background in university teaching and research in Chile, Europe and Oceania, her lifelong work related particularly to teacher professionalization policies won her the Chilean National Education Prize in 2013.

She is currently working as a researcher and director at the Millennium Cluster on the Teaching Profession in Chile, based at the Universidad de Chile’s Centre for Advanced Research in Education (CIAE), and is part of the Regional Strategic Project on Teachers, spearheaded by the Regional Bureau of Education for Latin America and the Caribbean.
