A project on HIV and AIDS awareness for the whole of Rotuma island to inform and enlighten the inhabitants about the facts and realities of HIV and AIDS.

Objectives:

To inform and enlighten the inhabitants of Rotuma about the facts and realities of HIV and AIDS

To dispel any common myths and misconceptions

To increase public awareness

To improve the quality of life for people living with or affected by HIV or AIDS.
Activities:
Presentations, workshops, school visits, teacher training and community outreach took place over a period of 4 months. Four primary schools, the only high school on the island as well as all of the island’s communities were visited. The activities were carried out in Rotuman vernacular in order to be accessible to both the well-educated and the lesser-educated.
