Mauritius - Recreational Day for Disabled Youths

Led by Qadir Mahamoodally, the Savanne Regional Youth Council (SRYC) gathered 35 youth volunteers to help plan a day of games and activities for 80 disabled youths. The project was deemed a big success creating interest in arranging similar activities for the future.

Objectives: 

  • To give the disable youth the chance to mix up with other youngsters.
  • To give them the chance to participate in different types of games and other activities.
  • To give them the chance to develop their hidden talents.
  • To give them the opportunity to celebrate Christmas with other youngsters of our society.
  • To make them feel that they also they are a part of our society.

Activities:

  • A day of beach/fun games at the outdoor center of the Ministry of Youth and Sports at Flic en Flac
  • A prize giving ceremony, which included speeches and song and dance performances

Results:

The project was deemed a big success creating interest in arranging similar activities for the future.
