The workshop brought together approximately 40 participants representing 17 countries from Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia and other international organizations such as the Interstate Statistical Committee of the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
The objectives for this workshop were to:
1. Increase the number of countries in the region that regularly produce quality ICT in education statistics;
2. Develop statistical capacity of national respondents from Ministries and National statistical offices (NSOs) to complete the UIS survey on ICT in education;
3. To gain knowledge about the particular characteristics of ICT in education data collection and use in the context of Central and Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia;
4. Review ICT in education policy-relevant indicators for both developed and developing country contexts;
5. Advocate for the inclusion of ICT in education items into national schools census forms;
6. Advocate the use of ICT in education indicators to support evidence-based policy making; and
7. Share experiences with other countries in the field of ICT in education indicators, and to address the problems that countries may encounter in collecting ICT in education statistics.
