世界空间周

　　大会1999年12月6日第54/68号决议宣布10月4日至10日为世界空间周，以此庆祝空间科学技术对改善人类生活水平的贡献。选择这一日期是为了纪念1957年10月4日第一颗人造地球卫星Sputnik1号进入外层空间以及《关于各国探索和利用包括月球和其他天体在内外层空间活动的原则条约》于1967年10月10日生效。
