Sources of information

Many sources of information fed into the study, including the following:

• Responses of Member States to the Secretariat’s request for information regarding General Assembly resolution 58/185
• Inputs submitted by non-governmental organizations based on their experiences in addressing violence against women.
• Responses of Member States to the 10-year Review and Appraisal of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Of the 134 responses received to the questionnaire to Member States, 129 addressed the issue of violence against women.
• Reports submitted by States parties under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women
