Technical Assistance
Strengthening the System of Governance for Culture in Developing Countries
This UNESCO expert facility project is funded by the European Union and contributes to the implementation of the 2005 Convention. It aims to strengthen the system of governance for culture in developing countries and reinforce the role of culture as a vector for sustainable development and poverty reduction.
The project involves technical assistance missions undertaken by top specialists in the field of cultural policies chosen from a pre-selected pool of experts.
Following the technical assistance missions' promising results, the project has been extended until 30 June 2015, allowing, inter alia, in-the-field follow-up activities in Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Niger and Viet Nam, while Argentina, Barbados, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Haiti, Honduras, Kenya, Malawi, Mauritius and the Seychelles have been benefiting from remote follow-up activities, since 2013.
