Born on 1 May 1954 in Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil.
Studies: She graduated in Social Communication from the University of Brasilia (1975) and in French Culture and Civilization (Paris). She also holds a PhD level thesis on Brazil-Japan relations from the Brazilian Diplomatic Academy, a Master degree in International Relations from the Centro Studi Diplomatici e Strategici (Roma, 202), and a PhD in International Relations and Diplomacy (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Relations Internationales, Paris, 2016).
Professional experience: Designated Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in
June 2017, she was the Brazilian General Consul in France (2015-2017). Prior to that, she served
in Angola (as Ambassador in 2014) and in Italy, Japan, the Dominican Republic, Argentina,
Jamaica, Barbados and New York. She occupied the posts of Under Secretary for Asian Affairs
and Multiregional mechanisms (2010-2013) and Director-General of the Department of European
Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2006-2010).
Ambassador Edileuza is very committed to UNESCO. She visited UNESCO’s Office in Brasilia last
June.
