Scholarship for the entire duration of the course (3 years extendable to a fourth, subject to availability of funds and approval by ICTP/SISSA Governing bodies).
A contribution towards monthly living expenses will be awarded to those who will subscribe a registered rent contract.
A contribution towards the expenses to be enrolled in the health insurance system.
A contribution (70% of the amount of the fellowship) may be awarded to students who should be forced to suspend their activity due to illness, maternity or other serious reasons up to 5 months.

The University of Trieste's Department of Physics offers five lines of research leading to a PhD in Physics. The duration of the PhD programme is three years, and it is taught in English. Research is carried out in cutting-edge facilities, on the main university campus, at the local Area Science Park and at national and international laboratories, in collaboration with Italian and international research institutions.
ICTP offers a scholarship for students from developing countries who want to do research in areas of interest to ICTP.

The MHPC is an innovative degree programme that prepares students for exciting careers in the fast-growing field of high performance computing (HPC). Set in the stimulating research environment of ICTP and SISSA, the programme will combine lectures with hands-on and applied projects to prepare future HPC specialists for academia and industry.
who can apply
The ideal student for the MHPC has a strong interest in information technology problems driven by scientific research or industrial needs.
An academic degree is required, although equivalent work experience may also be considered. Work experience will be evaluated during the admissions interview. No prior HPC knowledge is assumed, but candidates should have some experience in programming and a competence in one of the following languages: C, C++, Fortran, Python. A sound knowledge of Linux operating system is also needed.
