Organized in the context of World Philosophy Day, the celebration of the "Week of Philosophy" in Costa Rica will take place at the San José Cultural Center from 15 November to 1 December 2018.

This celebration aims to sensitize participants to the importance of the discipline of philosophy as a pedagogical tool for the development of everybody.

It further aims to teach the importance of this discipline in our societies at many levels and as a pedagogical instrument that is transcendental to encourage reasoned conviction, the importance of dialogue and critical reflection, which will help articulate a plural and democratic society for our future children and young people.

For UNESCO, the realization of this event is essential, since philosophy provides the conceptual bases for the principles and values on which world peace depends: democracy, human rights, justice and equality.

The opening day of the event will take place on Thursday 15 November at 7:00 p.m. The inauguration will be called "Big Words" and will consist in the exhibition of the photographs that show the teaching of philosophy in the classrooms of the girls of Hogar Montiel. It reflects the methodological processes of the “Philosophy of Childhood” in Costa Rica, and participatory processes based on the “Methodology for Children” with a child population in Costa Rica.
