| 11 December 2014Students of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos Nigeria invent Lite-pop (solar public light)A group of Yaba College of Technology students took part in the first Lagos Inventergy Challenge and invented what is called Lite-pop - a solar public light. The Lite-pop is an environmental solution kit which intends to solve city environmental issues like: Street Lightning, calculating the amount of humidity, temperature, sound, CO2, NO2 and Solar. Team Lite-pop participated in the 2014 Lagos State Inventergy Challenge and won 2nd position in the competition. The challenge is a platform designed to showcase innovative products and services within the energy sector in Lagos State towards the possible integration into the local economy. ( more) |

| 17 September 2014Water Hyacinth Project in YabaTech UNEVOC CentreThe Water Hyacinth Project in YabaTech was initiated by the Coordinator of YabaTech UNEVOC Centre, Dr (Mrs.) Funmi Doherty in 2012. She is mentoring students through her water hyacinth project, to turn the invasive plant into a money maker, training them on how to make different eco-friendly hand craft, biogas and animal feed from the plant. She teaches students on how to harvest the plant, dry it and weave into products that can be sold by the students. ( more) |
