Urban Planning Students from Kansas City Win Award for Research on UNESCO Creative Cities Network

A student research team from the University of Missouri Kansas City’s (UMKC) Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Design won an award for their poster research and presentation of Comparative Urbanism - a study of the UNESCO Creative Cities. The research was presented as a poster session at the 2019 National Conference of the American Planning Association in San Francisco, California. 6,400 planners attended the annual conference from more the 30 countries. The students won best poster for the category of international, comparative and global planning issues. The poster entitled “Comparative Urbanisms” was submitted and presented as part of the APA National Conference, April 13-16, 2019. The research focused on planning for sustainability in 27 UCCN cities.
