The AQS QuiltWeek in Paducah fosters international cooperation

Based in Paducah, Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art since 2013, the American Quilter's Society (AQS) is the largest quilting membership organization in the world. It offers the annual event AQS QuiltWeek, which continually strenghens international cooperation and participation through a contest dedicated to the fiber arts. 

In Paducah, from 20 to 23 April 2016, creators, students and professionnals of the field from different cities of 13 countries, including Creative Cities of Florianopolis (Gastronomy), Kanazawa (Crafts and Folk Art), Kobe (Design), Nagoya (Design), Sapporo (Media Arts), Seoul (Design) and Tucson (Gastronomy), will take this opportunity to exchange know-how and to showcase their works in a premiere quilt contest with $125,000 in prizes to be awarded.

With 600 quilts on display, an extensive merchant mall and a rich line-up of special events, attendees will have a variety of activities to participate in, to further discover the art of quilting. With a projected $25 million economic impact, this event exemplifies the vitality of creative industries in Paducah, especially in the field of Crafts and Folk Art, and affirms the city as a hub for creativity and innovation.
