Isfahan, Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art, has launched its Handicraft Winter School on 20 January 2019. During a two-week day event, short-term training courses in design and artisanship were provided to the women of the Iranian city. With its more than 190 fields of handicrafts, the preservation of local traditions and the development of the creative sector have always been an economic and social priority for Isfahan.
From 20 to 22 December, the Iranian UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art will be the host of a first international exhibition on creative industries, covering various fields of culture and creativity including heritage, visual arts and information media.
From 9 to 14 September, the 19th National Handicraft Exhibition was held in the Creative City of Isfahan, in the historical garden-museum of Chehleston Palace. 120 booths from all the provinces of Iran showcased handicraft products at this large-scale exhibition, which highlights Iranian handicrafts every year in September.
On 7 September, the Iranian Creative City hosted a TEDx event under the theme “Untold Stories of Isfahan”. This event offered a series of eight lectures by thinkers and experts from different walks of life and from a variety of fields, including science, entrepreneurship and creativity, with the aim to share their vision and experience of Isfahan and its communities.
The Creative City of Isfahan bears witness to more than 190 forms of Crafts and Folk Art. It has also be awarded the world city of handicrafts by the World Crafts Council (WCC). From 25 to 29 August, the city will organize its first handicraft summer school for young people to train them in design, production and selling processes in the field of handicrafts.
