UNESCO published a Toolkit on Data Journalism

The UNESCO Tashkent Office within the framework of the project "Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest – Phase II"*, funded generously by the UK Government, published a Toolkit on Data journalism for journalists and journalism teachers. The Toolkit is available on three languages: Karakalpak, Russian and Uzbek.

The Internet and communication technologies have become firmly established in modern life and provide access to a huge amount of diverse information.

Journalism is beginning to be built on data that are really becoming abundant and diverse. These are not only statistics but also data on migration, diseases, political votes, financial reporting and other.

Digital data can "talk" and it can be visualized. This is how data journalism emerged, which collects open data and presents it as a vivid and clear visual content.

The Toolkit gives the notion of data journalism and its tools; it also teaches how to create data stories from the stage of installing the necessary programmes to using data visualization services.

*The UNESCO project "Enhancing the Capacity of Uzbek Media to Serve the Public Interest. Phase II" was launched in March 2019 and completed in May 2020. The project was financed generously by the UK Government in the amount of $ 190,450.
