Heidelberg and Granada co-write the “Osip Mandelstam: Word and Destiny”

When:
Fri, 07/15/2016

The “Osip Mandelstam: Word and Destiny” book is the fruit of the very first collaboration between the Creative Cities of Literature of Heidelberg and Granada, in cooperation with the State Literary Museum of Moscow. This joint-project has been initiated in the framework of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the Russian poet Osip Mandelstam, who was one of the foremost members of the Acmeist school of poets. The book is available in a bilingual version, in German and Spanish.

“Osip Mandelstam: Word and Destiny” is showcased until July 17th through a dedicated exhibition in Heidelberg, which has been, up to today, attended by a total of about 3000 visitors. The book presentation took place on July 15th and provided the occasion to the team of 6 authors, 5 translators and 5 editors to exchange with visitors on their collaborative work on the life and work of the poet. This annotated overview has also required a tight cooperation between various representatives of Heidelberg and Granada including the Wunderhorn Verlag publishing company and the Komplus agency.

The exhibition is currently hosted by the Friedrich-Ebert memorial in Heidelberg’s old town and is displayed until July 17th. It will then be showcased in Granada from September 9th to November 6th at the Federico García Lorca Centre.
