Loma Virtual International Festival in Areguá

Loma Virtual International Festival in Areguá

When:
Fri, 07/31/2020

Since 2019, Areguá is a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art in Paraguay. Known as one of the three key pottery cities of Paraguay, the city is also known for offering a great range of popular arts including music and dance notably.

To celebrate World Friendship Day, the city organized ‘Loma Virtual International Festival’ that brought together local artists and musicians to perform from the most outstanding landscapes of the city. The Festival also featured artistic performances from other UNESCO Creative Cities in the region.

The Loma Virtual International Festival is an activity of the Project “Areguá Creativa y Circuitos Solidario” (Areguá Creative and Solidarity circuit), that gained the support from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network. Implemented by the Municipality of Areguá in collaboration with Estación a Núcleo Cultural, the project aims to promote artists and expand the outreach of its various natural spaces of the city by conducting virtual tourist and more.

The Project is amongst other initiatives that gained support from the UNESCO Creative Cities Network based on the call launched by the Secretariat to collect projects and responses from member cities that highlight the mobilization of the cities’ cultural and creative capital in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic and demonstrates a strong inter-city or international collaboration with other UNESCO member cities and other cities from around the world.
