Paducah’s 33rd QuiltWeek: Weaving the Ties between Creative Cities

Paducah’s 33rd QuiltWeek: Weaving the Ties between Creative Cities

When:
Wed, 04/26/2017 to Sat, 04/29/2017

Eight UNESCO Creative Cities have entered to compete in the 33rd Annual Spring QuiltWeek of the American Quilter’s Society (AQS) in Paducah, a Creative City of Crafts and Folk Art.

The event showcases Paducah as a node for creativity, fostering innovation and creating opportunities for creators, local and international. QuiltWeek seeks specifically to engage professionals in the cultural sector, notably in quilting and fibre arts. A programme of other cultural events and artisan showcases complements the week.

Over 30,000 attendees are expected to view the work of quilters from 47 U.S. states and 15 countries – a significant increase from previous editions. Contest entrants include UNESCO Creative Cities Sydney, Australia (Film); Florianópolis, Brazil (Gastronomy); Nagoya, Japan (Design); Hamamatsu, Japan (Music); Seoul, Republic of Korea (Design); Busan, Republic of Korea (Film); Austin, USA (Media Arts) and Tucson, USA (Gastronomy).
