Code of Ethics

This journal is committed to maintaining high standards of publication and, consequently, takes all necessary measures to avoid misconduct in its publications. Authors who submit papers to this journal attest that they are original, unpublished works and are not being evaluated by another journal. In addition, authors attest that the papers are their own and are not plagiarized or copied in whole or in part from other papers; and that they have disclosed any actual or potential conflict of interest with their work or benefits in part or in association with it.

This journal is committed to blind evaluation of both author and reviewer and to the avoidance of any conflict of interest between the editor and reviewers. Problems arising in relation to the above points will be reported to the editor(s), who has the obligation to resolve them without leaving any doubt.

In addition to these statements, Revista Educación Superior y Sociedad adheres to industry associations, such as the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and Elsevier's Publishing Ethics Resource Kit (PERK), which set standards and provide guidelines for best practices to meet these requirements.

The following is a summary of these ethical standards as duties and responsibilities for editors, authors, and reviewers:

Editor and Editorial Board

- Ensure the confidentiality of authors' data in the review process.

- Ensure the custody of unaccepted texts and make explicit how they are to be destroyed.

- Define and make explicit the criteria for acceptance of articles for review.

- Avoid favored treatment to the detriment of other authors.

- Not to have any conflict of interest in relation to the texts presented.

- Not to make any use of the texts or the data presented in them, beyond those of being published.

- Establish clear and objective review criteria to avoid reviewer subjectivity.

- Establish clear deadlines for responding to authors on the acceptance or non-acceptance of the text.

- Review suspected incidents of plagiarism and resolve any conflict of interest.

- Evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content, regardless of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.

Authors

- Originality: Ensure the originality of the work and that it has not already been published elsewhere.

- Truthfulness: Provide truthful data and show that they have been collected in a technically correct manner.

- Plagiarism or self-plagiarism: Do not plagiarize in whole or in part from other published works.

- Authorship: Confirm that the authorship of the text really belongs to the persons who sign it. The condition of author implies active participation in the realization of the source work of the article submitted, in the writing of the text and in the revisions of the same.

- Conflict of interest: declare any business association that may involve a conflict of interest in connection with the submitted article.

- Sources: Indicate the sources of information used and differentiate those used directly from those used indirectly. Authors are responsible for obtaining the appropriate permissions to partially reproduce material (text, tables or figures) from other publications and for citing the source correctly.

- If the article is accepted, the authors must undertake to make the modifications within the stipulated period.

- In those cases where it is considered appropriate, they should present the documentation that ensures that the minimum ethical criteria have been followed in the research, such as the informed consent.

Reviewers

- Make a fair and objective review of the articles.

- Clearly state the arguments for their assessment.

- Not accept articles for review in which there may be a conflict of interest that limits their objectivity (for example, being an interested party in the research presented in the article, having a personal relationship with the authors of the text, or being in a situation of dispute against the article or the person or group presenting it).

- Maintain the confidentiality of the information and data of the evaluated articles.

- Evaluate manuscripts only for their intellectual content, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnicity, nationality, or political philosophy of the authors.
