Our Expertise in Brazil

Natural Sciences

UNESCO acts as a catalyst and offers the country support to stabilize policies, as well as promoting technical cooperation at national and international levels in the field of natural sciences for these themes:

Social and Human Sciences

UNESCO Brazil promotes a vast array of actions for the advancement of social and human sciences, even though it faces enormous social and economic inequalities:

The great challenge that the country faces is the pressure that development exercises on Brazilian traditional structures, whether they be urban sites of cultural value, archaeological sites, indigenous settlements, or traditional populations, with their unique knowledge and practices.

Communication and Information

  • Digital Transformations and Innovations
Information and communication technology (ICT) is fundamentally changing the way people live and work, learn and socialize mainly through artificial intelligence and digital inclusion

  • Freedom of Expression
UNESCO promotes freedom of expression and freedom of the press as a basic human right, through sensitization and monitoring activities. It also fosters media independence and pluralism as prerequisites and major factors of democratization, peace and tolerance-building by providing advisory services on media legislation and sensitizing governments, parliamentarians and other decision-makers.
