Vision in Perspective – The 2022 World Design Cities Conference to be held in Shanghai

Vision in Perspective – The 2022 World Design Cities Conference to be held in Shanghai

Thu, 09/15/2022 to Sun, 09/18/2022

From 15 to 18 September, Shanghai, a UNESCO Creative City of Design since 2010, will organize its first World Design Cities Conference (WDCC). The 2022 edition will cover 100 city-wide activities revolving its global theme “Vision in Perspective”. Participation will be available both on-site and online.

As a flagship event of the Conference, the Creative Cities of Design Summit will be held on 15 September. With the participation of mayors from Creative Cities of Design and other relevant stakeholders from the design sector, this Summit is aimed at nurturing dialogue on how design policies stimulate urban sustainable development in a time of rapid social and technological changes. On this occasion, six Creative Cities from different regions will present their projects, tools and experience showcasing the added value of the UCCN membership for advancing sustainable urban development.

The event also embodies the city’s aspiration to establish an international exchange platform amongst UNESCO Creative Cities of Design as a means to collectively address contemporary challenges and foster innovation through design. This platform will allow Creative Cities to further demonstrate their design-enabled visions and strategies, as well as share knowledge, good practices and achievements by addressing the key topic of “The Impact of Design Cities: Challenges and Innovation”.
