The 12th session of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) will take place in hybrid format at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, in Salle XI, on 21 and 22 June 2023.

The working and information documents for the 12th session of the Council will be made available on the UNESCO website one month prior to the meeting.

Our Priorities

The overall goal of IFAP is to help UNESCO Member States develop and implement national information policies and knowledge strategies in a world increasingly using information and communication technologies (ICT). In order to achieve this goal, the Programme concentrates its efforts on the six priority areas listed below.
Information for Development

focuses on the value of information for addressing development issues.

Information Literacy

empowers people in all walks of life to seek, evaluate, use and create information.

Information Preservation

strengthens universal access to information by preserving libraries, archives, museums.

Information Ethics

covers the ethical, legal and societal aspects of the applications of ICT.

Information Accessibility

encompasses issues surrounding availability, accessibility and affordability of information.

Multilingualism

is a key determinant for the extent to which one can participate in the knowledge societies.
