Food Mixed with Culture – Bibimbab festival & IFFE closing ceremony

When:
Sun, 11/22/2015 to Wed, 11/25/2015
The 9th Bibimbab festival was held in Jeonju (Republic of Korea) from 22 to 25 October 2015 bringing together various food cultures, performances and exhibitions. The festival, entitled “Jeonju! Dance with Great Food!” was a successful mix of Korean traditional food and culture.

For the Bibimbab contest, the residents from 33 different Dong (Towns) prepared a unique style of Bibimbab and, in order to contribute to the protection of the environment, visitors took with them eco-friendly ceramic bowls as a souvenir after enjoying a free Bibimbab instead of using portable bowls.

Besides, the 2015 Jeonju Gourmet of the Creative Culinary Institute of Korea was organized in the framework of the festival. Famous chefs from France and Italy reinterpreted the Korean traditional cuisine and the eight Jeonju food ingredients with their own recipes. Representatives of Kanazawa (Japan), a UNESCO Creative City of Crafts, also participated in the festival.

In addition, the 13th Jeonju International Fermented Food Expo (IFFE) was held in the World Cup Stadium from 22 to 26 October 2015. The Expo provided a variety of B2B (business to business) and B2C (business to customer) sessions offering a large range of opportunities to identify potential consumers, expand transactions between companies, and enhance business communities. 371 companies from 20 different countries participated in the event and presented their products and services. The Expo is expected to generate over 3 million USD income.
