Biosphere reserves in Africa

There are 90 biosphere reserves in 33 countries in Africa.
They participate in the African Biosphere Reserves Network (AfriMAB), created in 1996 to promote regional co-operation in the fields of biodiversity, conservation and sustainable development through transborder projects, which are primarily based in biosphere reserves.
