National Consultation held for sensitization of stakeholders on SDG-4/ Education 2030

Islamabad - 15 December 2015: UNESCO Islamabad, UNICEF and the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Government of Pakistan jointly organized the first national consultation workshop on Sustainable Development Goal - 4 (SDG) "the Education 2030 Agenda" in Islamabad. The workshop aimed at developing a common understanding on SDG-4 and devising a roadmap and effective strategies for attainment of quality education and goals set for 2030 which were adopted at the World Education Summit in May 2015 in Incheon Republic of Korea this year. Improving Girls' Primary Education - UNESCO and Government of Pakistan launched Girls' Right to Education Pogramme

Islamabad - 08 October 2015: To improve better access, quality and safe learning environments for girls in the hardest-to-reach areas of the country, UNESCO and the Government of Pakistan launched the Girls' Right to Education Programme for Pakistan worth 7 million USD. The programme aimed at enrolling 50,000 more girls in primary schools of remote areas over the next three years. In this context, an official launching ceremony was held in Islamabad which was well attended by officials and representatives of the federal, provincial and area Governments of Pakistan, Parliamentarians, United Nations, Civil Society Organizations, Academia, Press and Development Partners. Education for All Global Monitoring Report 2015 launched in Islamabad

Islamabad, 22 April 2015: UNESCO Islamabad in collaboration with Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi and other partners organized national launching ceremony of the twelfth and final report of the Global Monitoring Report (GMR). The report is the final in the GMR series. The Report, Education for All, highlighted a definitive assessment of overall achievements and challenges from 2000-2015, by analyzing each of the six EFA goals agreed by governments in Dakar, Senegal, in 2000. The launching ceremony of the GMR was held in Islamabad and attended by the Minister of State for Education, Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Trainings, Representative and Director UNESCO Islamabad, Director Programs Idara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi, and other representatives and officials of the Government of Pakistan, civil society organizations, United Nations, academia and media. Nomination call for UNESCO-Hamdan Prize 2015-2016

The fourth edition of the UNESCO-Hamdan bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Prize for Outstanding Practice and Performance in Enhancing the Effectiveness of Teachers has opened the call for nominations. The prize is awarded every two years and it recognizes initiatives that contribute to improving educational practices around the world, with priority given to developing countries and to marginalized and disadvantaged communities.
