|
Events 1 of 4
On the occasion of World Philosophy Day 2008, UNESCO will host for the third consecutive year the colloquium on the New Philosophical Practices, which will take place on 19 and 20 November 2008.
The event provides a place for debate and exchange open to any person interested or involved in other, innovative practices of philosophy, with the aim of making this discipline accessible to the largest number and spreading its practice to a wide range of places, such as primary and secondary schools, hospitals, prisons, cafés, Popular Universities, multimedia libraries, theatres or cinemas, within companies or organizations, etc.
This colloquium, coordinated by Michel Tozzi, Professor Emeritus at Paul Valéry University of Montpellier (France), is organized by the Association Philolab and the IUFM (Academic Institute for Teacher Training) of Creteil (France). In the course of the two days of conference, 26 papers will be presented and 9 thematic meetings will take place.
UNESCO is strongly attached to the spreading and broadening of philosophical education and practices. In 2007, it published Philosophy, a School of Freedom. The publication offers a state of the art study and analysis of the teaching and learning of philosophy in all regions in the world, with a view to encouraging the development of philosophical practices at all levels of education.
The colloquium will take place in Rooms XII (plenary sessions); VI, VII, IX and XI (thematic meetings), and IX (café philo) at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. The entrance will be at: 125, avenue de Suffren, 75007 Paris.
Registration to participate in this event is free but compulsory. For more information about the event and its programme, please consult this Website, or contact: Association Philolab / Organization Committee, IUFM of Créteil, or Michel Tozzi. For questions concerning registration, please contact Virginie Janin.
